The RESULTS of effective learning!

Class 10 took a BOY diagnostic test on the 28th of June. The class average was 4% with around 2 people scoring above 10 (in a 20 mark test) and the remaining scoring between 0 - 6. Even though this test was Math based, it also reflected a lot on student comprehension and retention. Trends that I noticed while correcting the papers were that students were not reading the problem or even understanding what it meant, let alone using correct mathematical operations to solve it.

Post this test, we had a week of learning science. Students engaged in the chapter "Our Environment" which is largely a theoretical lesson. I used activities to teach them visually, and the students meticulously took notes and answered in class. Strategic CFU's helped the process immensely. At the end of this week-long learning sprint, a test on the chapter was conducted. It included MCQ's, Short answer questions, and long answer questions. It gave me immense pride to see that 75% of the class had passed! In a class of 33 students, almost 7 of them scored above 70 percent.

This was a significant jump from the BOY Diagnostic, especially because similar skills were being tested. Attached below is the classroom data:
